PUMPKIN BREAD
ONE OF MY FAVORITE THING TO MAKE IN THE FALL IS MY GRANDMOTHER'S PUMPKIN BREAD. TO ME, IT IS ALL THINGS FALL! :) MY MOM USED TO MAKE IT FOR ME ALL THE TIME (AND STILL DOES WHEN I VISIT TEXAS). I MADE IT FOR MY COWORKERS, AND IT WAS A HIT. I THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE THE RECIPE WITH YOU! PUMPKIN BREAD 2/3 CUP SHORTENING 2&2/3 CUP SUGAR 4 EGGS 1 CAN OF PUMPKIN (THE 12 OZ CAN) 2/3 CUP WATER 3 1/3 CUP FLOUR 2 TEASPOONS BAKING SODA 1 &1/2 TEASPOONS SALT 1/2 TEASPOON BAKING POWDER 1 TEASPOON CINNAMON 1 TEASPOON CLOVES 2/3 CUP CHOPPED NUTS (OPTIONAL) HEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES. GREASE 3 LOAF PANS ( I USE THE CHEAP ALUMINUM ONES.) IN LARGE BOWL, COMBINE SHORTENING AND SUGAR UNTIL FLUFFY. STIR IN EGGS, PUMPKIN, AND WATER. IN A SEPARATE BOWL, MIX FLOUR, SODA, SALT, BAKING POWDER, CINNAMON, AND CLOVES. BLEND IN THE DRY INGREDIENTS. STIR IN NUTS (OPTIONAL). POUR INTO PANS. BAKE ABOUT 70 MINUTES OR UNTIL WOODEN TOOTHPICK INSERTED IN CENTER COMES OUT CLEAN. ENJOY!
